Pastor Bob and Velma Willhite and National Call to Prayer

After decades as a local church pastor and faithful early morning prayer leader, Bob Willhite became a prominent leader in a nationwide prayer movement in the 1980s in America known as "Could You Not Tarry One Hour" which used the Lord's Prayer as an outline for early morning group prayer in churches, and which emphasized praying for the government.

In 1988 Bob and his wife Velma moved to the Washington, D.C. area to found and lead The National Prayer Embassy. Jeff Wright had been in the D.C. area since 1983 pastoring a local church which emphasized praying for the government, primarily through a Sunday morning prayer tour of the City. In 1988 Bob asked Jeff to serve with him on the founding board of directors of The National Prayer Embassy, for which Bob was President and Jeff was Secretary/Treasurer. In 1992 when Bob and Velma left the D.C. area to move back to Arkansas, Bob turned The National Prayer Embassy over to Jeff's local church, which has provided a legal covering for The National Prayer Embassy ever since.

We praise God for the ministry of Bob and Velma Willhite, which continues through National Call to Prayer!
